The BACARRA estate has belonged to the family for several centuries. It is situated in the centre of the Beaujolais region and covers 12.5 hectares around the village of Saint Etienne la Varenne. This village produces two appelations: Beaujolais-Villages and Brouilly.

The vineyards are planted in sandy soils and on well exposed slopes, benefiting from the sun all day long. Over half of the vineyards are old vineyards (from 35 to 70 years old). They give a lower yield of deep coloured, sweet grapes which allow us to make well structured wines.

Half of the production is vinified and sold as Beaujolais-Villages Nouveau and the other half traditionnaly as Beaujolais-Villages. The wines age in oak barrels with the best care in vaulted cellars in which the natural air-conditioning facilitates their maturation and preservation. They are kept for six months in the cellar before being put into bottles on the estate.

Our wines come into full bloom with a wide bouquet after 8 months in the bottle and keep well for two or three years.
